<p>PURPOSE:To permit oxygen gas to be obtained in a high yield by introducing air into an adsorbing tower in the process of separating gas under such control as to permit an intermittent change in the air speed in an adsorbent column. CONSTITUTION:Air 11 is introduced under pressure into an adsorption tower 10 filled with nitrogen gas adsorbent in the form of a column through its entrance and the nitrogen gas in the air is selectively adsorbed on the entrance side of the adsorbent column to form an adsorbed gas zone. The introduction of the air under pressure into the adsorption tower 10 is continued and, at the start of advancement of the forward end of the foregoing adsorbed gas zone and after termination of its advancement, the oxygen gas emitting from the end of the adsorbent column is collected as an commercial gas 14. The introduction of the air 11 into the adsorption tower 10 in this gas separating process is so controlled as to permit an intermittent change in the air speed in the adsorbent column. As a result, the oxygen gas can be obtained in a high yield.</p> |
