A device for the assembly of the shell of motor vehicles, such as coaches, consists of at least two sections of special shape. The rounded central part of the upper section (1) is extended at one of its ends by a fork (14) with two branches (15), (16), between which the side window (11) is fastened by means of a glue compound (56) penetrating into grooves (27). The other end of the section (1) is extended by a set-back stepped portion (17) forming a drip moulding, having a bottom (23) and itself extended by a projecting stepped portion (19) with a hook (18), in which the roof (12) is secured. The branch (16) and the tab (22) have notches (24) (25) serving as drilling references. The parts (20), (21), (28), (29) form radial stiffening webs, and the parts (22), (30) form axial stiffening webs.
