The invention pertains to the use of soluble, non-crosslinked polysaccharides, and in particular, alginate, as a stabilizing agent for microbial cells. The stabilized cells which result from the invention are useful as microbial inoculants in agriculture. A wide variety of microbial genera may be stabilized through the compositions of the invention. |
