<p>A brush (10) formed in its entirety of a heat-fusible synthetic material and adapted for selected application of a flowable fluid to a workpiece - and includes a hollow head section (12), a plurality of bristles (14), and a fluid distribution channel (32) defined by a flexible membrane (34) extending substantially axially within the radial interior of the bristles (14) from the head section (12) toward the free end of the bristles (14). In making, a tuft of synthetic material in filamentary form is inserted into a mold cavity (46) and a heated die (64) is moved into either direct contact or either closely proximate but predeterminately spaced apart relation with the mold (46) for transferring sufficient heat to fuse the adjacent filament ends and form the brush head section (12). A heated pin (70) is inserted into and retracted from the mold cavity through the head section (12) to form the distribution channel membrane (34).</p> |
