PURPOSE:To improve the editing performance of records for insertion, deletion, shift and exchange by controlling the records stored in a file by means of the logical record numbers and editing the records through said control. CONSTITUTION:A logical record number control table 2-1 is produced at initialization to a record file 1-1 which contains the records R1-R500 having the logical record numbers 1-500 respectively. In this case, 480 records are stored in a logical record part of a 1st item together with 20 records stored in a logical record part of a 2nd item respectively in the order of logical record numbers. Thus a spare part becomes idle. When the exchange is carried out between records R1 and R2, the 1st and 2nd records are replaced with each other on the table 2-1. Thus the records are logically exchanged and the state of a record file 1-2 is obtained. In this case, the file 1-2 keeps the previous state 1-1. |
