PURPOSE:To clean a squeeze roller efficiently and to obtain stable development characteristics by supplying a solvent for a liquid developer to the squeeze roller after the development of a photosensitive body and cleaning the roller, and collecting the solvent in the container for the developer and replenishing a high-concentration developer. CONSTITUTION:The solvent which is sent to a nozzle 3 after the development of the photosensitive body is supplied in a shower state to a couple or rollers 6 and 7 from many slits or holes of the nozzle 3 which is provided in the lengthwise direction of the couple of rollers 6 and 7. The couple of rollers 6 and 7 rotate to clean a sticking liquid developer 2. Then, the roller 6 is separated from the roller 7 and a primary cleaning pad 8 moves down to abut on the outer periphery of the roller 6. The roller 6 is cleaned while rotated and then returned to its original position. The solvent falls and is collected in the container 21 for the developer and the high-concentration liquid developer is replenished from the nozzle 12 to the container 21 by a prescribed amount.
