Angular position transducer (absolute shaft encoder)

An angular position transducer is specified which is arranged in the ignition distributor of an engine in order to pick up an angular position of a shaft. The angular position transducer comprises a measuring element (41, 42) which is arranged about the shaft (2) and generates a measuring signal corresponding to an angular position of the shaft, and a processing circuit (6) which surrounds the shaft and processes the measurement signal from the measuring element. The measuring element and the processing circuit are connected via an electric conductor (50) which is arranged sufficiently far removed from the shaft (2) so that the disadvantageous influence of a high voltage possibly induced in the shaft is reduced. <IMAGE>
