Cooling water regulator for internal combustion engines

A cooling water regulator for internal combustion engines is proposed, with a thermostatic valve with expansion element thermostat for actuating the valve element of the main valve controlling the valve seat for passage of the cooling water between radiator and internal combustion engine. The tappet of the main valve is supported on a thermostatically controlled actuating element, which has a control element adjacent to the expansion element thermostat and a remote temperature sensor, separated from the control element and connected to this by way of a remote transmission element, which is arranged closer to the radiator outside the heat-affected space, so that the remote temperature sensor actually senses the radiator outlet temperature and not, say, a related temperature distorted by heating in the area of the cooling water regulator. As a result a more accurate adjustment of the regulating characteristics of the thermostatic valve as a function of the radiator outlet temperature can be achieved.
