Steering lock anti-theft device for motor vehicles including a device 20 for retaining the bolt 10 in the advance position for blocking the steering shaft. The disengagement of the retaining device 20 is controlled, when turning the key 4 associated with the lock 3 of the anti-theft device 1 corresponding to the command for retracting the bolt 10 by a stop member 16 forming part of the safety device 11 provided in the anti-theft device to prevent accidental movement of the bolt 10 from the retracted position to the advanced position.
