PURPOSE:To both prevent a short-circuit of a lead storage battery and obtain the maintenance-free further long life lead storage battery with simple constitution, by interposing a supporting element only between a positive pole strap and the bottom surface of a cover. CONSTITUTION:A plate group 5 consisting of positive and negative plates 7 and 8 built in layers through separator plates 6 is inserted into a battery jar 2 to connect each cell, then a bottom end fitting part 13 of a supporting element 12 is fitted to a prescribed position of a positive pole strap 9 and then the jar 2 is jointed to a cover 3 by thermo welding or the like, simultaneously the upper end of the element 12 is jointed to the bottom end of a supporting element 4 provided to the bottom surface of the cover 3 correspondingly to said element 12 to fix the strap 9. In this way, an upward warp of the strap 9 is suppressed by the elements 4, 12 interposed between the strap 9 and the bottom side of the cover 3 to enable the prevention of a short-circuit. |
