The curler is a ring (1) made of a plastics foam material which is elastically deformable, such as high density polyethylene foam. The transversal section of the ring is polygonal and preferably square and its circumference is between 20 cm and 40 cm. It is made by extruding a tube and cutting it into slices. For use the ring is pressed together at two opposite points and the hair (2) is rolled on it. One end loop (3) is then put through the other end loop (4) and pulled to hold the curler.
