<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently produce the subject tissue with abundant saffron useful components, thus suitable as a raw material for collecting said components, by making a tissue culture of the flora tubes of saffron. CONSTITUTION:The flora tubes of saffron are put to tissue culture using a culture medium containing a plant hormone (e.g., alpha-naphthalene acetic acid, benzyladenine) to produce and grow the saffron stigmalike tissue abundant in saffron useful components (e.g., saffron coloring matter, medicinal component). Said flora tube, which is referred to as a cylindrical part with petals aggregated, is preferably collected during the bud period prior to the flowering. If said tissue culture is made in a culture medium with a sucrose concentration of >=5wt.%, the title stigmalike tissue can be grown in higher efficiency. Extraction of the saffron stigmalike tissue thus obtained can advantageously produce the objective useful components.</p> |
