PURPOSE:To reduce the connection loss of an optical connector by inserting a polishing shaft determining pin into a coupling pin hole of an optical connector ferrule, executing the polishing positioning by this pin and polishing the end face. CONSTITUTION:A polishing shaft determining pin 3 whose diameter is almost the same as that of a coupling pin which is coupled into a coupling pin hole 5 of an optical connector ferrule 1 at the time of coupling is installed in a polishing arm 4, and the pin 3 and a polishing machine are adjusted so as to become within 90+ or -0.2. In this state, the coupling pin hole 5 of the optical connector ferrule 1 is inserted into said polishing shaft determining pin 3, held from below by a ferrule holder 2 so that the ferrule 1 does not drop down, and coupled to the polishing arm 4 by a pin 7. In that case, there is looseness in the pin 7 and the hole inserted therethrough, and also, the ferrule holder 2 is floating against the polishing arm 4 by a spring 6, by which it is not obstructed that the ferrule 1 follows the polishing shaft determining pin 3. In such a way, the squareness of the coupling pin and the end face becomes high accuracy. |
