On entertainment machines with the possibility of a win, means of payment, such as banknotes and coins of relatively high value, can be changed into coins of low value. After the means of payment has been accepted, the changing operation can be initiated by pressing a return key. The value recorded in the coin store, reduced according to the stake, is paid out by the coin unit from the coin-specific coin-stacking tubes. The new device is intended to prevent the coin-stacking tubes from being exhausted as a result of the operation to change banknotes and coins of relatively high value. So that the entertainment machine is not used solely as a money-changing device, a changing fee is determined as a function of the value of the accepted means of payment and is reduced with every subsequently activated game of the entertainment machine.
