<p>A strap drive for a pulley (10) of a continuously variable transmission wherein a flexible strap (66) has one end (68) secured to the axially movable sheave (16) of the pulley and the opposite strap end (70) is secured to the cover encompassing the movable sheave, which cover is mounted on the rotary shaft (20) for the pulley. To prevent buckling of the strap under reverse torques, a safety stop (76) in the form of a pin (78) is mounted in the cover (24) to project into a slightly arcuate axial slot (82) in the sheave hub (22) and prevent undue relative rotation between the sheave (16) and cover (24).</p> |
