PURPOSE:To improve a recording and reproducing efficiency by forming a substrate with a magnetic material, providing a nonmagnetic insulating material at a magnetic pole providing area, connecting magnetically the rear edge part of an outer circumferential part except a tip part with a magnetic substrate and constituting an auxiliary magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 31 is composed of a magnetic material and a nonmagnetic insulating material 32 is provided on a magnetic pole providing area to form a magnetic pole. An auxiliary magnetic pole 36 magnetically connects at least a rear edge part 36c of the outer circumferential part except the tip part with a magnetic substrate 31. Namely, not only the first half part but also the last half part constitutes the closed magnetic circuit approximate to a ring type from the center of the auxiliary magnetic pole 36 facing-arranged through a thin film coil 35 sandwiched by an inter- layer insulating layer 34 for a main magnetic pole 33 and the magnetic substrate 31. Consequently, especially, the contribution for a recording and reproducing efficiency by the last half part of the thin film coil 35 is increased more than conventionally. Thus, the recording and reproducing efficiency of the thin film magnetic head can be improved. |
