PURPOSE:To prevent the wear of a magnetic layer and the eccentric wear of a tape sliding surface, and to facilitate highly accurate assembly by surrounding a magnetic film with a nonmagnetic substrate and a nonmagnetic protective film, and tilting a head gap at a prescribed angle to the surface of the nonmagnetic substrate. CONSTITUTION:On the tape sliding surface, a nonmagnetic substrate 1 and nonmagnetic protective films 5 and 6 surround first and second magnetic films 2 and 4, and a head gap 3 formed by the first and second magnetic films 2 and 4 is tilted by a prescribed angle theta (0 deg.<theta<90 deg.) to the surface of the nonmagnetic substrate functioning as a reference surface. Consequently, the flaw and wear of the first and second magnetic films 2 and 4 are suppressed, and stepped parts are prevented from being generated. Thus, the flatness of the tape sliding surface is maintained, tape slidingness is improved, and by setting the head gap 3 at a prescribed azimuth angle, the connection of a coil, etc., is facilitated. |
