A window stay for holding a window panel for use in vehicles, comprises a window frame having an abutment flange for supporting the one of both mutually facing side surfaces of the peripheral edge portion of the window panel, a panel retainer for supporting the other of the facing surfaces of the peripheral edge portion of the panel, an elastic cushioning strip made of resilient material arranged on the panel retainer and an elastic adhesive strip applied to the abutment flange, wherein the peripheral edge portion of the panel member is sandwiched, by way of the elastic cushioning strip and the elastic adhesive strip, between the panel retainer and the abutment flange. A rim projection is integrally formed with the window frame, whereas a circumferential surface of the panel retainer is slightly greater than that of the rim projection, whereby the elastic cushioning strip is inwardly compressed so as to provide fluid tightness in addition to a cushioning effect derived from its own resilience. |
