The invention relates to an electric motor, especially for pumps having a housing which surrounds the stator and having winding contacts which are mounted on the winding overhang and with which contact is made by a plug which leads to a terminal box mounted on the housing. The winding contacts extend through at least one opening in the housing to the exterior and contact is made with them, on the outside of the housing, by the plug which is mounted externally on the housing.
