PURPOSE:The titled friction material excellent in frictional properties at high temp., which consists of a metal fiber, a binder such as phenolic resin, a specified auxiliary material and a filler. CONSTITUTION:A steel fiber or a similar metal fiber, a binder such as phenolic resin, a filler such as graphite, iron powder, BaSO4 or Ca(OH)2, and 3-25vol% auxiliary material consisting of a minute hollow sphere such as carbon, alumina, aluminosilicate, glass or fly ash are mixed and molded by hot pressing. EFFECT:The obtained friction material can exhibit excellent frictional properties at high temp. of 300 deg.C or above and control ignition even at a braking temp. of 600 deg.C or above. USE:Brake for an automobile, etc. |
