PURPOSE:To selectively execute a proper operation in accordance with a read result by holding information indicating distinction of the format, the recording volume, or the signal holding format of a recorded information signal of a recording medium by the recording medium so that this information can be read by a signal converter. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium is applied to the system where the recording medium (memory card 1) having plural prescribed modes freely attachable to and detachable from a signal converter 2, which copes with the recorded information signal which can selectively take plural prescribed formats, is selectively applied to this signal converter 2 to transmit and receive the information signal between the signal converter and the recording medium. Means (circuit pattern 1a and information terminals TE1-T5) are provided which hold information indicating distinction of the format (resolution or the like of picture information), the recording volume (the number of already recorded frames), the signal holding format (memory classification of RAM or ROM), or the like of the recorded information signal of the recording medium so that this information can be read by the signal converter 2. Thus, information is read to cope with it. |
