<p>PURPOSE:To enable the failure diagnosis device to quickly make a failure diagnosis by making possible a two-way communication between a failure diagnosis computer with an expert system and an electronic control device, and allowing the failure diagnosis computer and the electronic control device to directly give and receive the data at the time of making the failure diagnosis. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control device 2 for controlling air-fuel ratio, ignition timing, etc. is mounted on an automobile 1, and a failure diagnosis device 3 consisting of a microcomputer, etc. having an expert system is provided, being installed in a service-station, etc. When a failure of the automobile is diagnosed, both the devices 2, 3 are connected each other through a two-way communication interface 4. And knowledge data are retrieved in accordance with the questioning diagnosis inputted from a keyboard 3a of the failure diagnosis device 3, and a call demand of required data is inputted through the interface 4 to the electronic control device 2. A required information is read from the device 2 through the interface 4, and the cause of the failure can be inferred by an inference device 3c.</p> |
