The invention is related to pyridine compounds represented by general formula (I) (wherein R<1> represents hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl or haloalkyl, R<2> and R<3>, which may be the same or different, each represents hydrogen, halogen or alkyl, L represents a group represented by formula (II) (provided that, when one of R<4> and R<5> represents hydrogen, the other represents hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl or acyl and, when one of R<4> and R<5> represents alkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl or acyl, the other represents phenyl, substituted phenyl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl or acyl, or R<4> and R<5> taken together with the adjacent nitrogen atom represent a group forming an optionally fused heterocyclic ring) or a group represented by formula (III) (wherein R<6> represents hydrogen, alkyl or acyl, Z represents methylene, oxygen or sulfur, and l and m, which may be the same or different, each represents 0 or an integer of 1 to 3), and n represents 0 or an integer of 1 to 8) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and their medicinal use. These compounds have anti-ulcerous, gastric acid secretion depressing, gastrointestinal cell protecting and antidiarrhea effects, thus being useful as drugs for prevention and treatment of diseases of digestive organs.
