The invention relates to a device for automatic alignment of a workpiece or its clamping fixture on a machine tool, preferably with rotating workpiece spindle. The object of the invention is to provide a device which is capable of automating all of the manual operations performed hitherto. This is achieved in that a chuck with three clamping screws is fixed to the flange of the workpiece spindle. Depending on the direction of rotation and angle of rotation of the workpiece spindle, the clamping force of the chuck is increased or reduced via the clamping screws.
