PURPOSE:To minimize the useless consumption of photographic paper no matter how an edge part is provided on the periphery of photographic paper by holding the tip of photographic paper between a downstream mask head and a mounting stand at the time of printing, and arranging the tip close to a printing range. CONSTITUTION:By rotating a knob 21, the photographic paper 12 is sent to a position where a sensor 86 detects its tip. When printing is instructed, the photographic paper 12 is returned to the extent that its tip comes to the position of the mask head 64. Mask heads 62 and 64 are moved centered on an optical axis L so that the paper 12 can be longer by prescribed length than a print size; therefore the head 64 covers the tip of the paper by prescribed length. A mask head in a width direction is set longer than the width of the photographic paper, and images on a negative film are printed thereon. After the printing, the photographic paper 12 is sent to the position of a cutter 184 which cuts the paper. Hence the useless consumption of the photographic paper can be minimized no matter how the edge part is provided on the periphery of the photographic paper.
