A description is given of a twin slide projector (double slide projector) which has two channels for inserting in each case one slide magazine, and two associated optical beam paths as well as in each case one controllable mechanism for transporting the slide magazine in the respective channel and for discharging a specific slide from the respective slide magazine into the associated beam path. The twin slide projector is provided with a control device for alternatively or simultaneously controlling controllable mechanisms for transporting the slide magazine or for the individual slides and, if necessary, the light source for the two beam paths. The magazine channel is in each case provided below the associated beam path, the transporting device for the individual slides representing a lifting device which brings the respectively selected slide upwards into the beam path against its own weight.
