PURPOSE:To restrain generation of edge waves in skin-pass rolling and to improve the rolling yield by using a couple of work rolls where a tapered part whose roll diameter gradually increases toward a roll end is formed on both end parts of a roll parallel part. CONSTITUTION:For skin-pass rolling, a couple of work rolls 1 are used where a tapered part 3 whose roll diameter gradually increases toward a roll end is formed on both end parts of a roll parallel part 2. Both the parts 3 and part 2 draft a steel sheet S so that the parts 3 draft edge drop parts E of the sheet S. Thus, large edge waves are not generated because excessive tensile stresses are not generated in the parts E. In another way, a couple of work rolls 6 are used where a tapered part 8 is formed on an end part of a roll parallel part 7 and the part 8 drafts the part E by shifting the rolls 6.
