PURPOSE:To obtain a highly sensitive thermistor without lowering a constant B even in a compact, chip like thermistor where a low resistivity value is required by adding specified quantities of rare earth elements to oxides of a manganese-cobalt-nickel series. CONSTITUTION:To a manganese-cobalt-nickel oxide 1-10 wt.% rare earth elements are added. When an added quantity of the rare earth elements is within the range of 1-10 wt.%, an increase of a resistivity value is limited to that in a range of the practical use, although a constant B increases drastically. When the added quantity of them is less than 1 wt.%, the constant B does not increase very much and it makes little difference whether the rare earth elements are added or not. Yet, once the added quantity exceeds 10 wt.%, the resistivity value will increase extremely and such a resistivity is not suitable for the practical use as a thermistor.
