PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of a data processor by deciding whether or not a pushed key functions an input data equal to the valid data having the meaning at that time point to send this valid data to the data processor and also displaying the meaning that is recognized by the data processor to said key at this time point. CONSTITUTION:The data received from a data processor 200 and to be displayed on the keys 141-145 provided on a keyboard device 140 are set at a key state table 120. Then the data are displayed on those keys on the device 140 based on the contents set at the table 120. When either one of keys 141-145 is pushed on the device 140 by a human being, the validity is decided for the signal data received from the device 140. If this validity is not confirmed, the invalidity of the pushed key is informed. While in case the validity of said key is confirmed and the display contents of the key must be changed, the contents of the table 120 are set again and also said display contents are changed. The signal data decided valid is sent to the processor 200.
