PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a reaction such as desiliconization or dephosphorization, by forming a prescribed inclined part on the bottom of a molten pig iron trough and colliding a jet contg. powder against the inclined part through a lance nozzle so as to prolong the distance of contact of the powder with molten pig iron. CONSTITUTION:A lance nozzle 1 is set above the surface 4 of molten pig iron in the molten pig iron trough of the casting bed of a blast furnace. Powder is blown into the molten pig iron through the nozzle 1 to desiliconize, dephosphorize or desulfurize the molten pig iron. A part 6 inclined toward the downstream side of the trough at 5-50 deg. angle theta to a level is formed on the bottom 5 of the trough. A jet 2 ejected from the nozzle 1 collides against the part 6 and penetrates into the molten pig iron, so the distance of contact of powder in the jet 2 with molten pig iron is prolonged to improve the efficiency of the reaction.
