PURPOSE:To produce the title copolymer excellent in gasoline impermeability, heat resistance, ozone resistance, etc., by copolymerizing vinylidene fluoride with an (alkoxy-substituted) alkyl acrylate in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:10-95wt.% vinuylidene fluoride (A) is copolymerized with 5-90wt.% (alkoxy-substituted) alkyl acrylate (B) of formula I or II (wherein R1 is a 1-18C alkyl, R2-O-R3 is an alkoxy-substituted alkyl, and the sum of the carbon numbers of R2 and R3 is 2-24) and 0-40wt.% ethylenically unsaturated monomer (C) (e.g., butadiene) other than components A and B at -20-120 deg.C and a pressure of 1-150kg/cm<2>. G in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g., acetyl peroxide) to obtain the title copolymer having 5-85wt.% component A units and 15-95wt.% component B units and having an intrinsic viscosity (as measured in N,N-dimethylformamide at 30 deg.C) of 0.01-10dl/g and a Mooney viscosity (ML1+4, 100 deg.C) of 20-150.
