摘要 PURPOSE:To carry out the catalytic reaction in isomerizing styrene oxide in the vapor phase by the reaction to obtain the titled substance, by using a highly active catalyst consisting of a sulfate of Mn, Fe, Co or Ni without showing deterioration in activity for a long time. CONSTITUTION:Styrene oxide is isomerized to give the titled substance. In the process, MnSO4, Fe2(SO4)3, FeSO4, CoSO4 or NiSO4 is used as a catalyst. The above-mentioned metallic sulfate may have water of crystallization, and supported preferably on a carrier, e.g. molten alumina, silicon carbide, silica or pumice to increase the mechanical strength. The amount of the metallic sulfate to be supported is 2-95wt%. The catalyst is prepared by sprinkling an aqueous solution of the metallic sulfate on a heated carrier, drying the impregnated carrier, and calcining the dried carrier at a high temperature (300-500 deg.C), etc.
