PURPOSE:To obtain a safe and strong antitumor agent or a metastasis-inhibiting agent for tumor, by using SCM-127 substance separated from cultured product of microorganism belonging to Streptomyces genus as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains SCM-127 substance of formula I (one of R is group of formula II and the other is H) as an active component. The substance has the following physical and chemical properties. Melting point, 153-158 deg.C; elemental analysis (measured), C 52.13%, H 7.26%, N 2.50%, P 5.14%; molecular weight, 513; specific rotation, [alpha]D<21>=+81 (c=1.0, methanol); solubility, soluble in methanol and water, hardly soluble in hexane and ethyl acetate. The substance exhibits proliferation inhibitive action against tumor cells such as lympocytic leukemia cell, mastocytoma cell, thymic lymphoma cell, etc., improves immunity of tumor cell and has extremely low toxicity. The substance can be separated from the cultured product of an SCM-127 substance-producing Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp. luteolus subsp. nov. (FERM P-8822). |
