PURPOSE:To obtain the titled reagent, consisting of lactic dehydrase, lactic oxidase and reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and capable of readily determining a trace amount of pyruvic acid, e.g. pyruvic acid prepared by hydrolyzing sialic acid present in blood. CONSTITUTION:The aimed reagent obtained by combining (A) lactic dehydrase with (B) lactic oxidase and (C) reduced form nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. Pyruvic acid is preferably determined by oxidizing lactic acid formed by reacting pyruvic acid in a sample with the component (C) using the component (A) as a catalyst with the component (B) and measuring the formed H2O2 by colorimetry, etc.
