PURPOSE:To obtain a self-extinguishing polymer compsn. which has greatly improved flame retardance and satisfactory mechanical strengths and moldability, by blending a thermoplastic polymer with a hydroxide of Al or Mg, fine carbon powder and a specified silicone compd. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is obtd. by blending 100pts.wt. in total of 70-20wt% component A and 30-80wt% component B with 0.05-20pts.wt. component C and 0.05-10pts.wt. component D. Component (A) is a thermoplastic resin, component (B) is aluminum and/or magnesium hydroxides or a blend thereof with not more than 30wt% magnesium carbonate, component (C) is fine carbon powder, and component (D) is a silicone compd. having an average MW of 500-100,000, represented by formula I, II, III, IV or V. In the formulas, R<1> is CH3 or a group of formula VI; R<2> and R<3> are each a hydrocarbon group; R<4>, R<5>, R<6> and R<7> are each CH3 or OCH3; X is NH2 or NH(CH2)2NH2; k, l, m, n, o, p and q are each an integer.
