<p>A synthetic peptide or polypeptide displaying the antigenicity of all or a portion of the 70kd mitochondrial autoantigen of primary biliary cirrhosis, or an antigenically active fragment thereof, is produced by recombinant DNA techniques. The synthetic peptide or polypeptide, or fragment, may be used in the treatment of patients or in diagnostic tests, particularly for the detection of anti-mitochondrial antibody in a serum sample.</p> |
