<p>A process of preparing an overbased composition by the reaction of oil soluble organic acids with oxides or hydroxides of, e.g., zinc, copper, cadmium, transition metals, etc. to form a salt. Additional oxides or hydroxides are added along with boric acid and promoters. These overbased metal borates are useful in lubricating oils and fuels.</p> |
