PURPOSE:To contrive to shorten the cycle time of pressing to a far greater extent by a method wherein a loading and unloading device of work consisting of a pickup mechanism, a conveying mechanism and an unloading mechanism, all of which are specified, is provided. CONSTITUTION:During the actuation of a pressing machine 1, the pickup needles 9 of a conveying head 7 is on standby under the state piercing a matlike forming stock 50 on a lifter 10. When a top force 2 is raised after pressing, the conveying head 7 approaches to a position above a bottom force 3 and feeds the forming stock 50 above the bottom force 3. By retreating the pickup needles 9 by means of cylinders 8, the forming stock 50 is dropped onto the bottom force 3. By pressing the forming stock 50 with the top force 2 and the bottom force 3, a item 51 to be molded is formed. The formed item 51 is lifted under the state being in close contact onto the under surface of the top force 2 by being pierced with needles 5. Next, by retreating the needles 5 by means of cylinders 4, the formed item 51 is dropped onto an unloading fitting 11, which has been introduced beneath the top force 2, so as to remove it from the pressing machine.
