An open cast mining device with a cantilever arm (6) that can pivot around an essentially horizontal axis carries a support or tool carriage (10) capable of transversely sliding with respect to the longitudinal axis (11) of the cantilever arm (6) and on which tools are rotatively mounted. For that purpose, the head (9) of the cantilever arm (6) and the tool carriage or support (10) carry guiding bars (12 and 13, respectively) linked to each other by means of an intermediate member (14). The sliding movement is effected by hydraulic cylinder piston aggregates (25, 27) arranged between the intermediate member (14) and the head (9) or between the intermediate member (14) and the support (10).
