<p>A solvent for removing adhesive, esp. carpet adhesive, is prepd. by adding 5-15 wt.% of an aliphatic alcohol to a halo-hydrocarbon, e.g. CH2Cl2, trichloroethane or perchloroethylene. The solvent pref. contains methanol and/or isopropanol, 1-5% of a glycol ether (esp. butyl diglycol and/or ethyl diglycol and/or triethylene glycol), a surfactant, e.g. nonylphenol (polyglycol ether (I) or isotridecanol polyglycol ether (esp. 1-3% (2%) of (I)), 3-7% of an organic acid, e.g. citric formic, acetic or lactic acid or H3PO4 and 0.5-1.5% of a thickener, esp. hydroxypropylcellulose.</p> |
