PURPOSE:To obtain an asphalt jelly-like composition of good quality suitable as under carpet, etc., without unevenness, by heating polyvinyl chloride resin and a plasticizer and blending hot-melt asphalt therewith. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. asphalt, e.g. blown asphalt or straight asphalt, is melted into a liquid while heating and 10-200pts.wt. polyvinyl chloride resin and 100-900pts.wt. plasticizer, e.g. dioctyl phthalate, etc., heated above the melting temperature of the asphalt are blended therewith. A stabilizer and filler, as necessary, are further added, stirred and heated to 160-200 deg.C. The resultant blend is then injected into a given mold or applied onto a substrate and cooled. |
