PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a device and to reduce its size by providing a switching mechanism which holds slidably a waveguide chip where two optical fibers are connected and one optical fiber and then switches and connects them. CONSTITUTION:Two optical fibers F are connected to fixed ends 2b and 3b of parallel waveguides 2 and 3 of the waveguide chip 1. The switching mecha nism 4 consists of a slider 6 where one fiber F is run and fixed and a slider holder 7 where the slider 6 is mounted slidably. The holder 7 is so constituted that a slotted hole 9 extending lengthwise are bored in an arcuate stood piece 8, the fiber F is run between the slotted holes 9 and 9, and the slider 6 is mounted between the stood pieces 8 and 8 through an elastic body 10. Therefore, the slider 6 is moved by a specific stroke when used, and then the fiber F set opposite either of switching terminals 2a and 3a is switched to opposite the other side. |
