摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely small-sized and one-chip-shaped connector by constituting it of a branch interference type waveguide chip, a notch part which has been formed by removing a waveguide, and a light fetching element which contains a transmission means consisting of a specific material and fitted to the notch part freely attachably and detachably. CONSTITUTION:The titled connector is constituted of a branch interference type waveguide chip 1 having annular branch waveguides 2a, 2b of two paths, and a light fetching element 4 which is fitted freely attachably and detachably to and from a notch part 3 which has been formed by removing the middle part of one branch waveguide 2a. In this connector C, when an optical signal has been inputted from the lower end part, it is transmitted to the branch waveguides 2a, 2b two paths, and in the other branch waveguide 2b which has been continued, said signal is always transferred to the upper end part, but in one branch waveguide 2a, when its notch part 3 is empty, the transmission is cut off, and when the light fetching element 4 has been inserted, said signal is transmitted to the upper face of the element 4 by a transmission waveguide 5 and a reflection mirror 6 of the element 4. In this way, a small-sized and extremely compact connector can be obtained.
