An electric display device with an illuminated script panel for displaying information on one of its two broad sides is characterised in that the illuminated script panel is rotatably supported in a housing which has in each case one window on two sides lying opposite one another and can be adjusted with its display broad side optionally between two operating positions in each case located opposite with respect to one of the two housing windows. In this way, the display device, which is preferably used as a display panel on the roof of a motor vehicle, in particular a police vehicle, can optionally display information in two opposite viewing directions.
