A device for checking the lighting installation of transport vehicles comprises a vertical guide shaped as a frame (1), in the lower part of which are hingedly mounted two supports (19, 20), an optical system (9) consisting of an objective (4) and mounted in a rim (3) on the vertical guide, and a screen (8) provided with horizontal and inclined sections (14, 15) of a control marking (13) and mounted on one of the supports (20) by means of a bracket (6) hingedly connected to the rim (3) of the objective (4). The device further comprises a means for orienting its optical axis in relation to the direction of movement of the transport vehicle, provided with a sighting index (27) and mounted hingedly on the support (19) located on the side of the inlet opening of the objective (4) of the optical system (9), the axis of the hinge being parallel to the sight index (27) of the means for orienting the optical axis of the device in relation to the direction of movement of the transport vehicle.
