The invention relates to a mounting cap for the temporary mounting of, for example, a spring strut 2 on a vehicle body 1, consisting of a pot-shaped body 9 which is open in the direction of the parts to be held and from which project upwards resilient hooks 8 for fastening in an orifice 3 of the body 1 and downwards resilient supporting hooks 10 for receiving the inner bead 11 of the sheet-metal basket 4 of the spring strut. The fastening flange 5 of the sheet-metal basket 4 has to be produced with an inner bead 11 which reaches relatively far into the orifice 12 of the sheet-metal basket, and therefore the legs 13 of the hooks 10 have to bend relatively far back inwards during insertion. This has often resulted in breaks of the over-stressed hooks, with the consequence that the spring strut has no longer been held or at all events, with the effect of making mounting more difficult, no longer being held vertically. According to the invention, therefore, the mounting cap is composed of the actual cap 14 and of a clamping ring 18 which receives the inner bead 11 in a recess 22 on the outer circumference and fits into a recess 19 of the supporting hooks 17 and the inner lower step 20 of which rests on the horizontal surface 21 of the supporting hooks. <IMAGE>
