PURPOSE:To reduce uneven wear of a brush roll and to prolong its service life by installing the brush roll having a brush part whose axial length is shorter than the sheet stock width to be able to lean at a proper angle in a horizontal plane and scraping scales on the sheet center part. CONSTITUTION:In the case that a couple of vertical rolls 1 are screwed down to roll a sheet stock 2 in the width direction, deformations are generated on both side end parts of the stock 2 and scales 7 generated on the surface of the stock 2 are peeled. A brush roll 5 installed on the outlet side of the vertical rolls 1 is rotated and scrapes scales on the center part of the stock 2. Then, the scales on the center part together with the scales peeled by width screwing down of the vertical rolls 1 are blown away by a descaling means such as spout nozzles installed on the downstream side of the roll 5. The axial length of a brush part 4 of the roll 5 is shorter than the width of the stock 2, and the part 4 is able to lean at a proper angle in a horizontal plane and uniformly contacts with the surface of the stock 2, so that uneven wear of the part 4 is not generated. |
