The invention aims to create an exhaust heat exchanger for an internal combustion engine, serving in particular to drive a heat pump, by means of which a large part of the heat contained in the exhaust gas is fed to a heating circuit, an optimum heat recovery being called for without falling below a predetermined exhaust temperature. This is achieved in that a circumferential surface defining a water jacket is formed by a preferably multiple-turn spiral. This spiral has fins pointing radially inwards, on the ends of which a cylinder rests under preloading, thereby forming exhaust ducts. In addition, a control device which is capable of controlling a cross section of a passage leading to the central duct by adjusting its cross section as a function of the outlet temperature of the exhaust gases, and bypassing the spiral, is provided in the housing of the exhaust heat exchanger. |
