PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect seating of a passenger on a seat over a wide area by arranging detection device bodies, each being made of a detection element covered with a detection plate, in plural numbers distributed over a wide area on the bottom of a seat. CONSTITUTION:A seating detection device 10 is constituted with, for example, three detection elements 13 arranged at apexes of a triangle via an insulation plate 12 on a support base 11 formed with an attachment flange 11a along its periphery. Over each of the detection elements 13 is arranged a seal member 14 the periphery of which is glued to the support base 11 by means of a mold 14a. In a support bracket 17 attached to each of the detection element 13 of a detection plate 16 is arranged a pressing member 18 capable of freely projecting or retracting with a pressure spring 19 inserted between the pressing member 18 and the detection plate 16. With the above-mentioned arrangement, since a plurarity of detection elements 13 are arranged distributed over a wide area, seating of a passenger on a seat can be detected over a wide area.
