PURPOSE:To enable automation of a work of mounting a packing to the interior of the mouth part of a cylindrical body and the like, by providing a positioning device for an object to which a packing is mounted and a device, conveying a packing mounting head from a packing feed position to a mounting position. CONSTITUTION:Annular packings A are fed from a box 31, and are aligned in one row with the aid of a feeder 32. The feeder 32 has a conveyor 33, and the packings A are orderly conveyed to a packing placing plate 35. A packing mounting head 40, conveyed to a position above the packing placing plate 35 with the aid of a head transfer device 50, nips the packing A after passing through the interior of the ring of the annular packing A. The packing mounting head 40 is conveyed to a position above a work B positioned in a position P by means of the head transfer device 50. In which case, a packing mounting rod 41 is inserted, and is lowered into the mouth part of the work B to mount the packing. In which case, the packing A is forcibly inserted in the mouth part.
